Windows 2000 - Microsoft / Windows Update / Error number: 0x8000202 Solution Lucky you! November 15th on my laptop boot up, I got a svchost.exe dialog box that alerted me of a shutdown. I ignored it. But it kept happening on each reboot. I ran a virus scan in Kaspersky Anti Virus 6.0, no threats found. Did some Google research and most resources said try installing fixes from Windows Update. There I found that my computer didn't recognize that I had upgraded to MICROSOFT update, when I clicked on the upgrade link, it flashed, then nothing. Back to the Update home page. When I clicked on EXPRESS update link... whoah, then I was getting error messages. Well, I restored a backup from about a month ago. All I got out of that was files I've deleted since then on my Windows 2000 professional system. Sure enough, Windows Update kept giving me errors that "page cannot be viewed". So I copied and pasted the error on the upper right hand corner: Error number: 0x8000202 I found THE SOLUTION that worked. So if your computer is running Windows 2000 Professional and your Windows/Microsoft Updates aren't working. This worked for me. Step 1: Check the local
